Treatments for Infertility
Approximately 1 in 7 couples are affected by infertility. Although there have been major advances in the diagnosis and treatment of infertility in recent years, the fact that it can be treated is not commonly known by everyone. Modern healthcare advancements provide infertile couples a range of treatment options. Nevertheless, couples often feel overwhelmed by issues such as time commitment, costs, insurance coverage, career goals, religious beliefs, cooperation between partners, medical diagnosis and emotional energy.

Our staff is here to help you sort through these issues. It is best to start by making an appointment with Dr. Howe to discuss the appropriate diagnostic testing and various treatment options. Upon a diagnosis of infertility, Dr. Howe can assist you in deciding what treatment plan is best for you and your specific situation.

Some diagnostic testing used to determine the cause of infertility may include:

Reproductive Hormone Tests
Basal Body Temperature Observations
Luteinizing Hormone Monitoring
PostCoital Test
Endometrial Biopsy
Semen Analysis
Cultures for Chlamydia and Mycoplasma
Immunologic Testing
Testing for Genetic Abnormalities

Dr. Howe's patients can expect to receive customized medical treatments in a caring and supportive environment. Although procedures such as vitro fertilization can sometimes be the necessary treatment, most couples with infertility can be helped through conventional treatments such as hormone therapy. Board certified in both Ob/Gyn and Reproductive Endocrinology, Dr. Howe is the only certified Reproductive Endocrinologist practicing privately in Western Massachusetts.

Not all couples who explore infertility treatment will be able to conceive a child. By scheduling an appointment with Dr. Howe, you are giving yourself the best chance of receiving the expert care you need in addressing your specific infertility problem.
